| Okay, that's IT!!! I've had it up to my ears with desperate housewives!!!!!
Just to warn you, what you are about to read is choc FULL of strong opinions, and is not for the easily offended Don't say I didn't warn you!
I know there are a boat load of Christians who watch desperate housewives, and that makes me SICK to my stomach. I have stood by LONG ENOUGH as people I know and love proudly admit to faithfully watching desperate houswives. I know that there are MANY tv shows out there that we as believers should not be feasting our eyes and ears on, but at the moment, desperate housewives takes the ultimate cake. Don't start deffending your beloved show by using the argument that I "must have never seen it," because I've got that covered. One Sunday night, I flipped on the tube, and much to my chagrin, that show was on. I decided to see what all the buz was about........well, it took the whole of about 20 minutes for me to conclude that this "hit tv show" was nothing but a monstrous melting pot of whores (being celebrated as the heros no less), lying, cheating, drinking, killing, and portraying marriage in the lowest possible terms.
It just makes me so sick the way these women are being celebrated and appraised despite leading these disgusting lives. The way they live there lives is actually APPLAUDED!!! Did you know that this show sat on the shelves for many seasons becuase it was deemed to "dirty" for major national broadcasting?!?!? I guess we've finally fallen to a new low...low enough to show that trash on anything other than pay-per view channels in cheap hotels. This kind of show, a show condoning sleeping around and being unfaithful to your spouse has NO place on America's televisions. This is a poison that's feeding horrible ideas and thoughts into the minds of Americans. It tells wifes and mothers everywhere that it's okay to be deicietful and unfaithful as long as what you do makes you happy. It tells young girls that being sexy and promiscuous are applauded and that marraiges are meant to be broken, and it fills men everywhere with sinful desires and lust as fully nude women flash themselves on the screen and jump around in bed with guy after guy, and then later kill or cheat on him.
It's not only the fact that this show is DRIPPING with sexual sin, it's also the ideals and everyday convictions that the actors and actresses are portray on the show. There is no good in desparate housewives. In fact, they are desparately trying to portray the opposite of good every Sunday evening.
So if you don't mind the repercussions, pop some corn, grab your husband and kiddos, flip on over to ABC, and have a seat and wait for your mind to be filled with disscontent as a wife and mother, your hubby to look at you with dissatisfaction since you most likely don't fit in a size two, and watch as your children's minds are molded and shaped by the repulsive and nauseating themes that desperate housewives is thirilled to dish out.
Just don't look shocked when your sweet little girl comes down the stairs bearing her bearly-there cleavage and saying things like, "well, he'll find out the truth on his own," or "I'm too good for you!"
I know that you may be laughing to yourself right now at my many misspellings and telling yourself that I'm totally nuts as you try write off what I've written, but you know as a Christian that this is wrong. Stop denying it, and start doing what's right. God is so blessed when we choose to turn off the trash. Our homes are supposed to be honoring to the Lord. Please stop letting this trash invade your home. Put a stop to it, and "just say no" to desperate housewives.
